Export potential of leather highlighted in Russian/Mongolian trade agreement

10/11/2001

The export potential of fur and leather goods from the Mongolian aimak (province) of Selenge has been highlighted by a new agreement signed with the Russian autonomous district of Ust-Ordynsky Buryat .

Signed last week, the agreement envisages much closer economic ties between the two neighbouring provinces, with Russian produce, grain and fodder being exchanged for Mongolian fur and leather articles and more joint enterprises being set up. As a next step, the two regional governments will set up a working group to suggest specific measures to implement the agreement. The group will be headed by the deputy chiefs of the administrations of the autonomous district and the aimak.
