Ministerial opening for new Hulshof headquarters
Hulshof Royal Dutch Tanneries’ futuristic new headquarters building (see leatherbiz.com story ‘Hulshof spells it out’ 18.05.01) has been officially opened by the Netherlands Minister of Economics Affairs, Annemarie Jorritsma.
Located in Lichtenvoorde, the new building has been designed to reflect Hulshof’s emphasis on technology and culture of openness, the company says. In line with this philosophy, it makes extensive use of fully glazed walls, both inside and out. Other design highlights include a highly unusual floor plan, based on the intersection of the triangle and a square, plus a fully glazed front elevation that carries the company’s name in massive steel letters, each weighing 2.5 tonnes.
Hulshof says the building is just one element of an ongoing programme of investment which will next result in the construction of a new water treatment plant of a size equivalent to handle a town of 45,000 inhabitants. It is also consistent with the company’s policy of producing high quality, added-vale products that will allow margins to be maintained in the face of a dwindling hide supply situation, the company says.
