Shoe designer forced to think again
A leather shoe designed with a titanium heel has had to be withdrawn from leading shoe designer Manolo Blahnik’s 2002 spring/summer collection. It seems that the precision design was so sharp that it would destroy floors or carpets.
A spokesman for the designer said that the shoe was a beautiful design, but was not practical for general sale. Blahnik has stores in London, New York and Hong Kong and can count Madonna among his long list of celebrity customers. His shoes are some of the most expensive and sought after in the business, with a standard pair selling for over £300 ($436).
