New product developments to be highlighted by Bayer at Tanning Tech

29/10/2001

Bayer AG has announced it will be presenting leather chemicals for virtually all applications at next week's Tanning Tech in Bologna. (Hall 34 Stand D21).

Together with its partner organisation, Rohm & Haas, the German chemicals giant will be showcasing chemicals for hide preservation, tanning and finishing through to leather care. The main focus this year will be on the company’s new 'Xenoderm' range of products which are said to improve wearer comfort by making shoe upper and clothing leathers both waterproof and water-vapour permeable.

Numerous other new product developments will be on display including 'Tanigan SR', an anionic synthetic auxiliary tanning material with a neutralising effect for reducing the amount of free formaldehyde and preventing the formation of hexavelant chrome in the leather.  The first products of Bayer's co-operative agreement with the South American vegetable tanning materials specialist, Seta S/A, will also be exhibited. These include six mimosa extracts and three auxiliaries for tannage and retannage - all of which will be marketed under the Seta name by Bayer in Europe.

Far from being subjected to the 'hard sell', visitors to the Bayer stand will be encouraged to take things easy as - in keeping with the fair's motto of 'Feeling Fine' - the company will also be laying on a leather massage chair.
