29/10/2001

The German chemicals giant BASF has announced WorldAccount - an global e-commerce platform that brings together all the company’s existing customer portals as a single, easy to use resource.

Located at www.worldaccount.basf.com, the new portal is said by the company to make the process of finding and ordering the right products for each application much more straightforward.  Authorised access to information such as order placement, order status and certification has also been simplified, with greater access being provided to individual product specialists.

WorldAccount will go into operation step-by-step. It is anticipated that the conversion of all existing regional portals to the new system will be completed by the end of 2001. The range of services is already retrievable in German, English, Spanish, French and Italian. Additional languages to be supported include Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean. BASF says 10% of its current global sales are transacted through e-commerce.
