Footwear exports up 79% in nine months via Chinese port
Some idea of rate at which the Chinese footwear production sector is expanding is provided by a set of figures newly released by customs authorities at the deep water port of Ningbo, in Zhejiang Province.
In the first nine months of 2001, exports of footwear through the port were 79% up on the year-before period, to $247 million. In the five month period to May, exports topped $100 million, with the largest single markets being Russia ($28.47 million), Poland ($23.48 million) and Romania ($20.02 million).
