UK footwear producer gets green light for new Indian factory

A proposal by the UK company DPS Universal to construct a leather footwear factory in Burdwan, West Bengal, has been approved by the Indian commerce and industry minister, Murasoli Maran.
One of 33 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposals to be approved by the minister, the factory will be run as a wholly owned subsidiary of DPS Universal realising an estimated FDI inflow of 235 crore for the government.
