Czech GDP and exports both up
According to the Czech Statistical Office, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Czech Republic grew 3.9% in the second quarter of 2001 compared with the previous quarter.
GDP growth in the first half also increased 4% year-on-year, outpacing that of the Eurozone which expanded by a much more modest 1.7% during the same period.
During January - July, Czech exports to CEFTA (Central European Free Trade Area) countries grew by 18.5 percent, amounting to Kc 121.6 billion ($3.3 billion), while imports rose to Kc100.4 billion - a surplus of more than Kc 21 billion.
