World Bank confirms $750 million loan to Ukraine
To help keep Ukraine’s economic reform policy on track, the World Bank’s Board of Directors last week approved a $750 million three year loan scheme to the country.
Under the scheme, Ukraine will receive $250 million before the end of this year, followed by two further tranches in 2002 and 2003. The programme takes the form of both technical and financial assistance and is aimed at maintaining economic reform measures, reducing poverty levels and enhancing environmental safety standards.
Since joining the World Bank in 1992, the Ukraine has taken on board loans totalling $3 billion, spread across 20 different programmes.
