The Kasen brand of leather sofa, produced by Zhejiang Kasen Industrial Co.,Ltd, has seen sales take off in the US after one was installed at the White House earlier this year.

Zhejiang Kasen Industrial Co., Ltd is located in Haining city, Zhejiang province, a centre for the production of leather garments in China. The company now has branches all over the world in countries such as America, Australia, Brazil and Germany.

Figures for the first half of 2001 show exports of $18 million ($2.3 million) with a bulging order book suggesting sales of $50 million by the end of the year. About 80% of Kasen Sofas are exported to the US and Western Europe. Orders from the US alone amount to $50 million for 2002.
