Profits fall for leather sector in South Africa
Figures from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) show that the leather, textiles, food and beverage sectors were among those that experienced a decrease in their profitability ratio. Stats SA calculate the profitability ratio of the whole manufacturing sector was 0.05 – unchanged from the same period last year.
The decreases in leather and textiles were counteracted by rises in petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products, up from 0.07 to 0.09 compared with last year.
