Pakistan leather and leather goods exports up in July-August
Provisional data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics last week showed that the country exported $104.160 million worth of leather and leather goods during the first two months of current financial year, July-August 2001. This compares with the $99.704 million recorded in the year-before period.
Of the July-August 2001 total, leather accounted for $40.322 million and leather goods the remaining $63.838 million. The 2000 totals were $32.251 million and $67.453 million respectively. The country’s exports during the same period totalled $1.462 billion and its imports $1.723 billion, bringing the trade deficit down to $261.139 million.
During the financial year July 2000 to June 2001, Pakistan exported $632.924 million worth of leather and leather, compared to $513.825 million in the previous year.
