Cowboy boots on show in Kansas
Anyone interested in the mythology of the Wild West should pay a visit to an exhibition at the Coutts Memorial Museum of Art in El Dorado. Called "Custom Cowboy Boots: The Kansas Story", the exhibition attempts to tell the fascinating story of the development of the famous cowboy boot.
Contrary to popular belief the boot was not simply a Texan invention, but also evolved in Kansas, where cowboys traditionally ended their cross-country trail. One of the most famous cowboy boot companies was the Hyer Boot Co. of Kansas, which included Will Rogers and Clark Gable among its customers.
