Iranian government encourages non-oil exports
The Iranian government has announced new measures to support non-oil exports such as leather, according to the Iran Daily newspaper. Subsidies worth IR150bn ($86 million) are to be set up along with private export promotion funds that would cover advertising and marketing costs for exporting companies.
The Hamedan province is one region that has taken steps to follow the government policy. The Hamedan customs department reported $9 million in leather exports last year, and $17.5 million in industrial and mines products.
