ISO 14001 accreditation for Indian footwear technology institute

India’s Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) has become the first footwear fashion and technology institute in the world to achieve accreditation to the international environmental standard ISO 14001.

Incorporating an IS0 17025-accredited physical testing laboratory, the FDDI offers both the training and the resources required for the attainment of international standards. Its remit also includes the promotion of export opportunities for the Indian footwear sector and introducing the indigenous footwear industry to overseas experts in the field. The institution’s plans for the future include the commissioning of a Computer Aided Design centre, a sophisticated footwear design and pattern-making system, plus a `Last Modelling Centre’ – the first of its kind in India.
