China`s acrylic acid industry expects increase in demand

Annual acrylic acid (AA) production capacity in China was reported last week (September 3) to be 150,000 tonnes, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes for AA related ester products. It is estimated that 30,000 tonnes is used in the leather industry.

Domestic demand in China for AA and related ester products was about 290,000 tonnes in the year 2000 but is forecast to rise to 380,000 tonnes in 2005.
