Russia`s foreign trade turnover up 30.8% in June

According to Russia's State Statistical Committee, foreign trade turnover was up 30.8% in June 2001 year on year, to 398.8 billion roubles ($13.7 billion). This follows a 3.1% rise in May. Exports totalled $9.1 billion (compared with $8.6 billion in June 2000 and $8.8 billion in May 2001) while imports stood at $4.6 billion ($3.6 billion in June 2000 and $4.5 billion in May 2001). The balance of foreign trade in June 2001 was $4.5 billion ($5 billion in June 2000 and $4.3 billion in May 2001).

Over the first six months of 2001, Russia's foreign trade turnover was up 10% from the same period of 2000, totalling $76.8 billion. Between January and June 2001, the positive balance of Russia's foreign trade was $27.8 billion ($29 billion between January and June 2000).
