New additions to Hi-Tec’s outdoor footwear

Hi-Tec’s new lines for spring 2002 include shoes for water wear and trail running, slip-ons, sandals, lightweight hikers and children’s adventure outdoor shoes.

The new Surf & Turf line combines the quick-drying open mesh upper of a water shoe and the durable, high-traction outsole of a trail running shoe to give a design that can be worn to romp in water, ride a bike and hit the trails without the inconvenience of changing for each activity.

Specifically for trail running is the Perpetua, an extremely lightweight, highly cushioned shoe from the Adventure Sport collection. Designed with abrasion-resistant materials for durability, it has an exceptionally light integrated shank system, a Dri-Lex moisture wicking lining for breathability and moisture control, and a new carbon rubber outsole with enhanced surface area for high traction and durability. The same collection also features the athletic style Laguna and Zuma full coverage slip-ons, and the Miami and Key Largo open breathable sandals, which provide a more technical performance.

Lightweight hikers have been added to the Sierra Collection. The Outpost, Chimera Lite and Traverse all feature lightweight leather and nylon mesh uppers, with the first two also featuring a new weight-reduced injection moulded EVA midsole and a new weight-reduced carbon rubber outsole. For children, the company has introduced the Chimera Lite Junior.
