Entries invited for Asian leather design competition

Budding leather designers in Asia take note.

August 30 is the deadline for "Asian Leather Design Awards 2001" – a competition aimed at fostering new leather design talent in the region.

Sponsored by Thailand’s Zen Department store, the competition is open to both students and manufacturers and requires entrants to submit a set of sketches for a pair of shoes and a bag under the theme "Step Into Trends 2002". Zen says care should be taken to ensure the bag is practical in terms of production and usage.

The ‘top ten’ winning designs will be realised as finished products by the Thai Leatherwear Association, the Thai Footwear Association and the Thai Tannery Association.
