Big increases have been noted in the export of Brazilian leather, leather goods and footwear. According to Brazilian agriculture minister Marcus Vinicius Pratini de Moraes between August 2000 and July 2001, exports of these items increased by 19.6%. Meat exports also jumped by 26% during the same period. The increases made up for a 23.2% drop in coffee exports, and a 33.4% fall in exports of orange juice.
