Dutch economic indicators show fall in textile and leather sales

The Netherlands experienced an overall increase of 4% in sales for industry in the first half of 2001, according to the country's Central Bureau of Statistics. However, the picture was mixed, with some sectors experiencing good growth while others saw a fall in sales. The textiles and leather sector suffered a 4% decline in sales compared with a year ago. Drink and tobacco were the best performers, up 6%, while wood and building materials were also up 6%.
