Nike recalls cross-trainers in safety alert

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said last week that Nike is voluntarily recalling about 425,000 pairs of its ‘Jordan Trunner’ cross-training shoes because of reports of injuries. The models being recalled are the Trunner, Trunner Mid, Trunner Bubble, and Trunner 2000 which were sold from July 1999 onwards. Apparently, the shoes have a thin metal strip on the outside of the heel that can protrudes through the lining to cut the wearer.



The CPSC said Nike had received five reports of lacerations relating to the Bubble model, some of which required stitches. One injury was also reported in relation to the Trunner. Though there have been no reports relating to the Trunner Mid or Trunner 2000, it is understood that these have been included as a precaution. Models of the Jordan Trunner that do not have the metal heel clip are not included in the recall.
