The Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry has reported that exports for the first half of 2001 were up 4% to $51.4 billion. Imports were up 18.1% to $24.1 billion. Among those that registered the largest increases were cotton fabrics (up 150%), leather footwear (up 200%), alcoholic drinks (up 150%), clothing (up 150%) and furniture (up 34%).
