China exports shoe-making machinery to Italy

30/07/2001

The Chinese footwear industry has traditionally relied on western machinery to make its shoes, but the Wenzhou Dalong Machinery Group reversed that situation by exporting shoe-making machines to Italy for the first time in the first quarter of 2001. The company is already dominant in its domestic market, but recently improved its technology to expand into the export market.

The Wenzhou Dalong Machinery Group began research into shoe making equipment in 1988 at the Wenzhou Economy & Tech Development Zone. In 1999 the company began production with the cooperation of Italy’s SABAL Group. A further alliance this year with EBC, another Italian shoe-making company, allowed the Dalong Group to develop high-tech production suitable for export.
