The authorities in Pakistan have announced a large increase for exports in leather over the last financial year. Provisional data released by The Federal Bureau of Statistics suggested exports of $632.924 million worth of leather and leather goods during the 12 months to June 2001. That compares favourably with the previous 12 months, when exports amounted to $513.825 million. The increase for leather at nearly 30% was more impressive than the 19.6% growth for leather goods.
