US manufacturing slowdown less steep in June

09/07/2001

According to the National Association of Purchasing Management, US manufacturing activity declined for the 11th consecutive month during June.

However, the decline was less steep than in previous months, as indicated by the Association’s purchasing index that rose 2.6 percentage points over May’s figure to 44.7%.

An index above 50 signifies growth in manufacturing, while a figure below 50 shows contraction.
