Uzbek-Italian partnership to expand production
The Uzbek-Italian footwear producer ‘JV Darital’ says it plans to expand its range to forty different styles this year and step up its exporting activities.
Established with investment from Italian ‘Berpol’ organisation, the company produced goods worth 238 million Soum ($633,000) in 1999 and exported footwear worth $72,000 to Italy. In the following year, the company opened a trading house in Yekaterinburg, Russia, where it sold $100,000 worth of goods (16,700 pairs produced). In the first four months of 2001, JV Darital has sold 65,000 pairs equating to 105,828,000 Soum.
