New Brazilian footwear design centre takes a step closer to reality
In a joint initiative, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and the Centro Universitário Feevale have created the ‘Integrated Center of Innovation and Design’ – a new institution aimed at improving standards of design among small to medium sized footwear producers.
Located at the University, the centre will incorporate an information bureau offering leather samples, industry magazines and other reference. In the medium to long term, it also intends to build its own database of footwear producers in the region. The centre is expected to become operational in July, once funding from the government and other sponsoring parties has been received.
