Fila and Ferrari sign licensing agreement
Fila Holding S.p.A. and Ferrari S.p.A. have sign a three year world-wide licensing agreement entitling Fila to develop and sell sportswear apparel products bearing the Ferrari brand name as well as athletic shoes. Under the terms of the agreement, Fila is to become an official supplier to the Ferrari/Marlboro team providing on-track and off-track uniforms to the Formula One team, as well as to the Ferrari Challenge GT races in the USA, Europe and Japan.
The contract, which will generate additional business of around ¤75 - 100 million throughout the 2002 - 2004 license period, has an option for a three-year renewal. The two organisations are also planing to co-operate at retail, co-marketing and internet levels, with Fila creating an area fully dedicated to Ferrari licensed products in all its stores around the world.
Under the agreement, Fila will develop two different collections: the Ferrari Collection - a high quality and exclusive line inspired by the story and technology of the carmaker brand, and the Tifosi Collection - a complete merchandising line designed for fans of the car. In addition, Fila will produce the Formula One team replica and a dedicated kids collection.
