According to Italy’s official statistics office ISTAT, industrial orders from the country’s leather and footwear sector were up 3% year on year during April.

This was against the background of a 7.9% fall in industrial orders during the month, with especially dramatic decreases being noted in commercial vehicles (down 30.2%) and synthetic and artificial fibres (down 13.7%). On a seasonally adjusted basis, industrial orders fell 7.5% in April from March.
