According to a survey conducted by the Getulio Vargas Foundation Financial Studies Center in São Paulo (CEF/FGV-SP), the Brazilian footwear and leather products manufacturing sector was among several that chalked up big gains in export values last year.

Together with the electrical and electronic appliances, polished precious and semi-precious stones, metallurgical and transport materials, the sector helped push up the value of exports by at least 7.2% greater per metric tonne year on year, which rose from US$209.98 to US$225.18.
