Russian farm output up 0.1% in Jan-April

Russian agricultural production (by all farms) edged up 0.1% year-on-year in constant prices in the first four months of this year to achieve Rbl175.8 billion ($6.3 billion) in current prices.

Agricultural output in April alone measured Rbl55.2 billion and was up 0.8% year-on-year and 5.8% from the previous month, the State Statistics Committee reported last week.
Year-on-year, farm output growth measured 2.5% in the first four months of last year, including 1.0% in April alone.

Russian farmers had an estimated 30 million head of cattle as of May 1 this year, including 13 million cows, respectively 3.1% and 3.7% fewer year-on-year. Hog numbers dropped 12.2% to 16 million, while the number of sheep and goats was up 0.8% to 17.8 million.
