Chinese leather institute scoops national scientific award
The Leather Project Department of Shichuan University has beaten all-comers in a prestigious national science competition, for its development of a new technique for treating pig skins.
Conducted among universities across ten provinces, the ‘China’s University Technology Competition’ is aimed at encouraging and recognising scientific innovation in the country’s higher educational institutes. The department was apparently awarded first prize for its development of a new, more flexible method of tanning pigskins that is suitable for both small and large tanning operations.
