China gears up for ninth Xinji Leather Fair

China’s Xinji Leather Association has advised that the ninth National (Xinji) Leather Trade Fair will be held August 8-12 2001 in Xinji city.

According to the Xinji association, the city has 1200 leather enterprises producing 20 million pieces of leather and 30 million sets of leather goods per year. Xinji city has its own ‘leather town’ comprising three production zones, constructed at a cost of Y1.5 billion ($181 million).

Last year’s exhibition attracted 160 Chinese and 42 foreign exhibitors including Bayer, Together for Leather (TFL), Henkel, BASF, Rohm & Haas and Stahl, the organisers say.
