April showers dampen French spending on leather goods

According to the national French statistics office INSEE, prolonged heavy rain helped suppress spending on leather goods and textiles throughout April. Spending on these items was 4.7% down on the previous month. By comparison, spending on manufactured goods dropped 0.8 per cent in April compared with March, with consumption of household goods falling by 2.2 per cent.
