LVMH fashion and leather goods sales up 18% in Q1
LVMH (Möet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), the world's leading luxury goods group, last week announced that consolidated sales in the first quarter of 2001 reached 2,745 million Euros, an increase of approximately 12% compared to the first quarter of 2000.
As expected, the greatest contribution to sales was made by fashion and leather goods, which increased 18% year-on-year from 752 million to 891 million. This was in spite of production capacity constraints at the company’s Louis Vuitton Malletier workshops.
Only sales of perfumes and cosmetics recorded a higher rate of growth, climbing twice the market rate from 20% 426 to 506 million.
The LVMH Fashion and Leather Goods division includes Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury brand, as well as Celine, Loewe, Kenzo, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, Thomas Pink, Fendi and Gucci.
