Italian leather goods sales rise 4% in January

The Italian statistics bureau, ISTAT, last week reported a 2.3% year-on-year increase in retail sales during February, with sales of footwear and leather goods rising by 4.1%.

By comparison, food sales increased by 1.3%, home electrical appliances, radios, and television sales rose 2.4% and pharmaceutical product sales were up 7.2%.

The figures were based on a survey of over 3,000 retailers, employing more than 9 people.
