US footwear retailer submits Chapter 11 filing

The US footwear retailer, Track 'n Trail last week announced that it has filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

The company stated that daily operations at its stores will continue. Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code is designed to provide companies with the ‘breathing space’ they need to reorganise through the restructuring of their debts, or new investment capital.

Track 'n Trail is one of the US’s largest footwear retailers with 111 stores and 40 Overland Trading stores in 33 states. The company offers a broad range of branded casual, outdoor and adventure footwear, featuring brands such as Timberland, Dr. Martens, Birkenstock, Teva, Vans, Airwalk, Clarks, Ecco, Rockport and Skechers.
