The US split tannery, Blackhawk Leather of Milwaukee, has announced that it is to close in June.

The company, which failed to find a buyer after being put up for sale at the beginning of the year, attributes its difficulties to changing market conditions and the fluctuating availability of raw materials.

In a statement issued to customers and suppliers, Blackhawk said it will remain for sale up to the June deadline.
