Seeking to capitalise on the booming demand for exclusive leather items, the Italian fashion house Mariella Burani has taken a 51% stake in leather goods maker Enrico Mandelli.

According to the company, the 8 billion lire ($3.62 million) purchase will make leather goods a significant part of its operations, and most likely pave the way for further leather business acquisitions later in the year.
