Pakistan dyestuffs manufacturers call for ban on cheap imports

16/04/2001

The Pakistan Dyestuff Manufacturers Association (PDMA) has asked the government to waive the 10% customs duty that applies to the import of their raw materials.

The association claims the move will help promote local industry and enable its members to compete more effectively against cheap imported dyes from India and China.

The Association has also proposed an immediate ban on the import of dyes of Indian and Chinese origin – or at least the imposition of an anti-dumping duty, together with anti-evasion measures designed to pick up on the misdeclaration of imported dyes.
