LVMH looks to focus leather goods production in Italy

The French luxury goods house, LVMH Möet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, is about to go on the acquisition trail in Italy – although on this occasion the company has manufacturers on its shopping list, not brands.

In an interview with the Italian national press last week, Pino Brusone, vice-chairman of acquisitions and brand development at LVMH, said the move would enable the company to exercise direct control over its production base. Though in the first instance it was looking to produce its Donna Karan line in Italy, the production of other brands in Italy might follow in due course – including the company’s shoe and leather goods brands.
