New tannery for Uganda

Tannery and Leather Improvement (Uganda) Limited, a local venture, has announced its intention to build a $1.2 million tannery in Masaka, Uganda.

The announcement was made last week by the company’s General Manager, Abdul Hakiim Sekandi. Speaking at a Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) consultative meeting in Kampala, Mr Sekandi also by the company’s General Manager, Abdul Hakiim Sekandi. called upon the UIA to help create more favourable conditions for the development of the tannery, by making it less attractive for hides and skins to be exported in their unprocessed state.
