LVMH to expand leathermaking capabilities in India
The French leather goods group Louis Vuitton, part of the luxury goods house of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy) has announced plans to expand its leathermaking operations in Issoudun, India.
The company already operates two leather workshops in the Issoudun area, employing around 500 workers. A new factory producing small leather items will be built in Conde, replacing an existing workshop and creating an additional 100 jobs.
Louis Vuitton employs 7,800 people around the world, including 3,200 in France. To accommodate a steep rise in demand for its luggage and other leather goods, the company intends to build four new factories in Sainte-Florence (Vendee), Ducey (Manche), and in Barcelona in Spain.
