The Austrian industrialist and tanner, Herbert Schmidt, has died after a long illness at the age of 67.
Originally a small family concern, Schmidt’s tannery in Feldbach developed to become one of Europe’s largest, and will continue to be run by his sons.
The funeral took place in Leibnitz on March 15, 2001. Schmidt leaves a wife Käthe, and 4 children.
