U.S. hides find favour with Korean tanners
A recent report by the United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.) shows that last year, 35% of all hides tanned in South Korea were sourced from the US, and that the south east Asian country is now the world’s largest single importer of US hides.
The same report also shows that in the first three-quarters of 2000, South Korea imported the same number of hides as it did during the whole of 1999. In anticipation of further growth, the USDA has already offered Korea a $30 million credit pledge.
