The Swiss chemicals giant, Clariant, has announced its year-end results for the year 2000, with the greatest contribution to sales being made by its ‘traditional’ Textile, Leather and Paper Chemicals Division, which accounted for SFr 2.6 billion ($1.5 billion) of the company’s SFr 10.6 billion total turnover.

The continuing integration of the fine chemicals producer, BTP, with the division was reported to be progressing well. However, the high cost of certain raw materials was also noted.

Sales of the group climbed 16% in SFr overall, with 12% increase being recorded in operating income. As future prospects are positive, an increase of the dividend by +10% from SFr 10 to SFr 11 will be proposed to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. In its statement to shareholders, Clariant says it expects business to develop at an equally dynamic pace this year.
