Francal closes on a positive note

The 37th International Footwear and Fashion accessories fair, Francal, held in São Paulo, Brazil, closed on a positive note on July 22, with both exhibitors and visitors reporting that the event had been very productive. With around 1,000 companies and associations exhibiting at the show, the 50,000 visitors were given a clear insight into the products offered by the Brazilian footwear industry that now incorporates some 7,500 companies producing 212 million pairs per year.
Well-known Brazilian brands such as Azaléia and Dumond showcased their spring/summer 05/06 collections which incorporated vivid colours such as turquoise and tangerine, reflecting the tones and atmosphere of Brazil and its people. There was a definite trend towards promoting Brazilian design and culture at the show.
Producers are now trying to push the industry forward by creating styles that can be recognised as Brazilian, in a move away from following more European designs as they have done in the past.
