Some growth for Bangladesh as new fiscal year begins

According to data from the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the leather sector recorded a 1.6% increase in export earnings in the first month of the new financial year, July 2026. Total export earnings reached $130.9 million.  

There was a dip for footwear exports, with revenues down by 1.8% to reach $77.6 million. 

Exports of finished leather increased by 7.8%, reaching $12.9 million. Similarly, exports of leathergoods grew by 7.2%, to $40.43 million. 

The EPB has set an export target of $1.4 billion for leather and leathergoods for the current financial year, which ends in June 2027.
