New workshop and new workers for growing leathergoods producer
Finished product manufacturer Grupo Atelier has successfully completed a first edition of an in-house training course focused on developing a new generation of leather artisans.
Specifically, the course, which launched in May as a trial, focused on leather garments production. The result is a group of new artisans to add to the existing workforce of around 100 people.
The company said it was preparing to launch another course in September for a larger, second cohort. This will take place at a new workshop Grupo Atelier is preparing to open in Palau-solità i Plegamans, to the north of Barcelona.
“At Grupo Atelier, we believe that investing in people is the best way to preserve craftsmanship, pass on specialist knowledge and continue shaping the future of leather manufacturing,” the company said.
Founder, Gerardo Sánchez Bandrés, has said he wants the new workshop to become a point of reference for the development of leathergoods craftspeople.
He commented: “Great products do not come about by chance. They are the result of knowledge, dedication and the skilled hands that make them.”
Grupo Atelier lists Loewe and LVMH among its customers.
